Pakistan has lost the five match ODI series against England, as we seal these words. A hawk eye on the Team green in this series says that Pakistan stands no chance in the forth coming grand cricket tournament of CWC. As they were knockout out by the English team in the five match ODI series by 4-0. One may be sure of that, by looking at the series stats, however the truth is otherwise to the contrary believe.
Team Green played five matches in Pakistan tour of England 2019 series. The first ODI match of this series was abandoned due to the bad weather. But, Pakistan lost all the remaining four ODIs with 4-0 and in return got a shameful label of series whitewash. Here are few things to remember before we criticize team Green for Bad show.
A total of 2780 runs were scored in the last four ODI matches by England and Pakistan jointly, with an average of 695 runs each match. Though, England remain the dominating side against Pakistan while scoring 1424 runs in last four ODIs, but Pakistan too had its fair share of 1356 runs. This might not be a comforting fact for Pakistani cricket fans that, Pakistan could not win a single match in this ODI series against England. But, this is an alarming news for all the strong teams in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 that, Pakistan have now become the first ever team to score 300+ runs consecutively for three times. In fact, all these matches were close calls.
If some of the events had gone in the Pakistan’s way, the results of this series might have been different. Pakistan batting line up were at the top of their show, either it be Imam, Fakhar or Babar. However, Pakistani Bowling side who were once thought to be the best in the world, lost their track to strike for the wickets. They only could take 23 wickets in last four ODIs and this is a worrying point for Pakistan.
There is a good reason for that, all the pitches in these four ODIs were a true ” Graveyard for the Bowlers” with nothing good for the bowling side. In these four One Day matches, only 56 wickets were somehow taken by the bowlers from both sides, from a total of 80 wickets. Only one time was a team bowled out all.
If Pakistan had enjoyed good hitting in the death overs of each match, England could have been biting their tongue. Nonetheless, Green cricket fans enjoyed some top knocks from Imam, Fakhar and Babar. That’s the only positive point for Pakistan Cricket in this series.
However, pitches in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 will be set by the ICC officials and will be favorable to both batsmen and bowlers. With that batting line up, and a little help from Bowling side, Pakistan can create trouble for the strongest teams in this season of CWC 2019.
